HISTORY
The existence of Muck City dates back to the early 1900's related to the federal project of draining the land around Lake Okeechobee, the acreage known for its rich quality and quantity of loamy black muck soil. This region of Florida produces some of the richest soil on earth, having produced over 75% of the United States sugar supply and many other crops used by the American people throughout history. The history of the muck not only lies in its soil and agriculture, but in its people, which is a major part of American history...
THE GLADES COMMUNITY
Nestled at the Southern tip of Lake Okeechobee lies the legendary land of Muck City, where four cities (Belle Glade, Pahokee, South Bay & Clewiston) converge and where the rich, black soil that gives the area its name runs deep with the spirit of resilience and determination. Here, in the heart of America's agricultural heartland, lies a community that has powered the nation's sweet tooth for generations, producing half the sugar cane grown in the country. With a history that stretches back to the early 1900s, Muck City has faced and conquered some of the greatest challenges of the past century, from devastating hurricanes to the last vestiges of slavery in the United States. Despite it all, the community has persevered, becoming a symbol of hope and a testament to the American spirit of resilience.

MUCK CITY SPORTS HALL OF FAME KICKOFF CLASSIC
On a rotational basis the Muck City Sports Hall of Fame will host the Muck City Sports Hall of Fame Kickoff Classic High School Football Game, which will kickoff the High School football season inside The Muck and Glades community. The Kickoff Classic Game will rotate between Glades Central H.S., Pahokee H.S., Glades Day H.S. and Clewiston H.S.
